Internships

The George Floyd Memorial Foundation,Inc. and Texas A&M University-Commerce have teamed up to launch the Be His Legacy Internship Program, an innovative new program designed to provide hands-on experiences through community outreach, targeted educational programs, and intentional reform initiatives to eliminate police brutality, promote social justice, and protect the civil rights of all people of color. A select number of virtual internship opportunities are offered for qualified undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled full-time at Texas A&M University-Commerce and members of the African-American Male Mentorship Program.

The George Floyd Memorial Foundation, Inc. offers positions in the following areas: Marketing/Communications, Scheduling/Operations, and Fundraising/Events.  If you’re interested in being considered for a certain role, please indicate in the application and discuss your interest in the cover letter. Program participants receives a semester stipend, and opportunities to meet and interact with professionals and leaders in several industries including but not limited to: Government, Legal, Public Relations/Entertainment, and many more!

Marketing/Communications Intern primary duties include: compiling daily news clips, monitoring news outlets, developing talking points, managing The George Floyd Memorial Foundation, Inc. social media accounts and content creation, provide suggestions to management for improving customer experience on social platforms and internal processes.

Scheduling/Operations Intern primary duties include: answering and responding to guest calls and emails, attending virtual meetings at the request of the Executive Director, briefing the team on foundation updates, assist with monitoring the Executive Director calendar, conducting research, maintaining office records, documents, and reports, etc.

Fundraising & Events Intern primary duties include: planning virtual fundraiser events, , assist in sponsorship initiatives, and in-kind requests (both written and verbal), coordinate closely with marketing team on social media platforms, collateral, and web content to promote fundraising events, donor stewardship, etc.

Please note that the Spring 2021 internship program begins Monday, January 25, 2021 and will conclude on Friday, April 9, 2021. Interns are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
