Be the Change
George Floyd Volunteerism Week is an opportunity for us all to promote volunteerism, through service projects to support our communities. For George Floyd’s 49th birthday (October 14th), together we will carry out the deeds that George Floyd would still be doing if he were alive.
Let’s make George Floyd Volunteerism Week a worldwide movement to impact our communities and to ensure peace and development.
Plan a volunteer project in your community. Here are examples of volunteer projects:
Volunteer at your local food bank
Community Cleanup to improve the look of your neighborhood
Donate blood (if you're at least 17, or 16 with a parental consent)
Collect non-perishable items and donate to a local food pantry.
Rake Leaves for an elderly neighbor.
Give Free Music Lessons
Teach people how to register to vote
Organize books at the library.
Host a study group.
Design a community mural.
Volunteer at an animal shelter.
Volunteer to help set up a community event.
Record your Be The Change video
Take a picture of you volunteering and post and tag @justicforgeorge what you were able to accomplish and why volunteering is important to you.
Invest in the community
Donate to the George Floyd Memorial Foundation as we honor George Floyd’s legacy by uniting and activating our communities to challenge the root causes of racial inequity and end the systemic violence affecting Black Americans.
